Costa Coffee, Brent Cross Shopping Centre

November 17, 2006

We have three guest entries for Standinaqueue today, and I will post each one up in turn.

Our first is from Hsien who has sent in a lovely picture of the queue at Costa Coffee.

She writes:

“You’ve totally got me hooked on taking pics of queues.
Drat your evil influence.

Here’s a pic from the Costa cafe at Brent Cross Shopping Center near London on November 11. I have never seen a more bored looking group of people.

Check out the three folks at the end of the line.”

Although I do admire Hsien’s dedication to Standinaqueue, I am a little worried by the measures that she will go to to get the perfect queue picture.

For her very first entry to Standinaqueue, Gary Wood pointed out that Hsien had taken the photograph from inside the bushes in front of the Natural History Museum. And we can see from the picture above, although you cannot fault her composition, Hsien has clearly climbed into the roof’s structure to snap this photograph.

After I complete a background check, I think it’s about time that we gave Hsien some kind of award.

Four Seasons, Bayswater

November 10, 2006

Our next post for National Standinaqueue Day is from the lovely Hsien, who reports on a queue from lively London Town:

We went to the Four Seasons restaurant in London at 84 Queensway. It’s one of the best roast duck restaurants in the city and is so popular, the queue fills up the entrance way and spills over onto the street during weekends.

Fearing the same fate on weekdays, I made sure to get to Four Seasons at 11:50 this morning. Lo and behold, these three Japanese guys (and my mother-in-law behind them) were already there! Sadly, no proper queue ever formed during our meal so the mob that I had hoped to capture never materialized. RATS!! I shall endeavor to find a more impressive queue for standinaqueue fans next time.

Oh, and I should add that for all the talk about the Japanese being terrific queuer-uppers, these three were just milling around. The atrocity! I’ve never seen anything like it during my five years in Japan.

Natural History Museum, London

October 24, 2006

We have our second guest blogger at standinaqueue, the lovely Hsien from cottontimer has sent in some rather grand looking photos of the queue at the Natural History Museum.

She states that “there was a monster queue snaking back and forth starting from Cromwell Road up to the entrance. It’s the start of half term so the crowd was to be expected. Fortunately, we got in after about a 10 minute wait.”

“There was also a queue inside to see the dinosaur exhibit. Estimated time 30 minutes but was actually less than 10 so all in all some fast moving, pleasant queues despite being in the company of an antsy preschooler!”
