Another guest queuer, but this time not anonymous. The lovely Lainey has sent over her experience after standing in a queue in Boots. Exact location is as yet unknown, but once I find out I’ll adjust the heading:
Ahoy there.
With the aid of some fairy liquid and a vice, I managed to get the pics out my phone. And so, on with the story.

The above pic demonstrates the queue in which I am standing.
The place: Boots.
The time: lunchtime.
The queue: seemingly out of control.

As you can see, there is a random bloke standing near the queue but is not actually in it. My first thought (when I was further back in the queue, and before i could see the empty space in front of him) was that he didn’t understand the direction of the queue but as I approached him, it became clear he was waiting for someone. But who?
Of course, for the woman in the beige coat with the fur trim, to the left of the pic, but she wasn’t ‘properly’ in the queue either! She was just hovering about.

So she was the queue pusher -inner? But then, the lone man suddenly left the shop with someone completely unexpected from another queue somewhere else in the shop. So was this woman pushing in with no back up? No- she was just with her friend who was finally being served in the third pic (although she is hidden). Phew! No-one was pushing in and normal service continued.
Finally my story has been told. I am unburdened.
elaine.

It’s so obvious where it is. It’s opposite the Caledonian Hotel, Princess Street, Edinburgh EH1 2AB. You guys have got to pay more attention to detail.

I say, you’re right. No other Boots store has big black pillars either side of its entrance. Gary Wood and I were very impressed when we saw them.

Thank you Laurence of Australia for clearing that up.

But may I say, your knowledge of exact location is a little bewildering as you are so very far away.

Bingo!
Laurence is right. It is indeed the long thin Boots at the West end of Princes Street. Sitting in my office, if I hear the one o’clock gun go off, I know a Boots visit could well find me stuck in a queue of grumpy corporates.

In the middle picture just behind the door pillar you can see the word Caledonian on the building opposite. Lainey lives in Edinburgh. The building opposite has that Victorian gothic hotel look. A search on Google reveals the hotels website complete with matching picture to confirm location. Besides, I used to live on the Isle of Skye. Only a stone’s throw (by Australian standards) from Princess Street.

Great queue photos Lainey…. I felt like i was there again.
Once, when I visited this boots, I queued for one of my many meal deals.
The queue was long and arduous. I was already tired, but the queue almost made me faint. When I approached the till I handed over my meal and advantage card, gained my points and then just walked out.
The queue had worn me out so much that I chose not to pay. The boy in the first photo was my cashier for that day. On my walk back to work to eat my deal I heard huffing and puffing, then I felt a tap tap tapping on my shoulder.
It was the jolly man in the blue tie (although that day he wore a darker colour). He said:
“You haven’t paid!!!!”
I said, tiredly “For what?” I then knew what had happened. I went back to the boots with the man, the queue had all been waiting for me. I slowly paid and left. I found it funny; many did not.
I realise now that this story would have been better told in one of my own contributions, instead of hijacking Lainey’s.
