The second entry for Standinaqueue Day comes from the splendid Mr Scamp.
He reports on a lunchtime queue in the heart of our nation’s capital:

This is a very busy branch and the queuing is always undisciplined, the Soho media types who use it are ever-alert for a possible queue switch, that might get them their sandwich 20 seconds faster.

It wasn’t that busy when I went in today, because I had missed the lunchtime rush. But you can still see a beautifully tentative body posture exhibited here. Which till will become available first? It’s an uncertainty, and we humans don’t like uncertainties.
I’m sorry the photos aren’t very good, so here is a bonus picture of the Regent St. Christmas lights.

Blimey, lunchtime in London looks to be a cutthroat competition.
She seems to be the kind of woman who knows what she wants and gets it.
Definitely not the kind of woman who would buy a club baguette from Greggs.

William:
Is baguette French for bag? She has a bag, perhaps not a club bag, but almost certainly a bag.
Mr Scamp:
It is a very pretty picture – it’s not Christmas lights time in Edinburgh yet… must be the time difference.

Gary Wood, a baguette is a long bit of bread.
You can’t buy bags in Greggs.
They started yesterday to put Christmas trees up along Rose Street in Edinburgh, but no lights yet.
I noticed in the second picture Scamp, that the lady to the left of the tentative woman is wearing the same coat. Maybe this is another reason why she is so anxious to leave Pret.
