You may have noticed, dear reader, that these past couple of days there have not been any entries here at Standinaqueue.
I’m afraid to say that this is because I have not been standing in any queues. Instead I have been back in Leicestershire walking the dogs and taking care of the aeoniums which, despite being brought inside, almost did not survive the first frost.
Because of the lack of activity here, I was hoping to report on a queue in Morrisons at Berwick Upon Tweed and, having not eaten since Brampton Ash, I was looking forward to buying a bite to eat in this last English outpost before reaching Scotland.

However, groceries in hand, I was dismayed to discover that there was a surplus of services and not enough customers, with not one queue inside the entire store.
And not a glimmer of one outside either.

I left feeling despondent.
Although by the time I reached Cockburnspath my mood changed and I was indeed rather pleased for the lack of queues and thought it what Morrisons deserved.
Inside Morrisons I purchased a bag of Morrisons’ Pick and Mix Pies. Strictly speaking they were not pies and instead pasties and rolls which I thought, from the label, would have a variety of different fillings.
I soon discovered that they were not a mix at all and each one was cheese and onion which, despite being reduced from £1.79 to 89p, was an utter disappointment.
If ever there was proof that the red tops are right and that England is going to the dogs, then this is it.

And so in Scotland I shall probably stay.

Sam Tana that is a brilliant article.
I love the way that the journalist and all involved omit saying the actual word even though it is barely a profanity.
A beautiful piece of writing.

Poetic justice, I feel, for the lack of variety in their Pick And Mix pies.

Yes Scamp.
Although I fear that Morrisons may still have the upper hand, as by Edinburgh I felt quite sick and could not face the last cheese and onion pasty.

[...] All is forgiven. Although I will still be collaborating with Gary Wood online, I have said goodbye to Edinburgh and am back here in the Midlands. [...]
