Young lovers entwined, giggling and laughing, walk onto garage forecourt. As soon as they reach the hole in the wall however, a level of formality enters their relationship and they silently form a queue, despite the fact that there is not one person in the close vicinity.

A happy queue stays in a straight line. This queue was grumpy and impatient with people side stepping to see what’s going on up front.
Up front was a new man on tills with the man sat next to him doing nothing but ’supervising’. Petrol may have been 92.9p a litre but the novelty of this wore off two weeks ago. If we were the kind of queue that wanted to be made to wait, we would have gone to Morrisons where petrol was going for a song at 89.9 pence a litre.
